Bataan inks deal for agricultural advancement

In a groundbreaking move to bolster the agricultural sector, the Bataan Provincial Government and the Department of Agriculture on Thursday signed a landmark agreement at The Bunker Atrium, graced by Agriculture Secretary Francisco “Tiu” Laurel Jr.

Leading the charge were Bataan Governor Jose Enrique Garcia III, along with Bataan lawmakers Congressman Albert Garcia of the 2nd District, Rep. Maria Angela Garcia of the 3rd District, First District Rep. Geraldine Roman (represented by Board Member Tony Roman III) and Pusong Pinoy Partylist Representative Jett Nisay. They were joined by Vice-Governor Cris Garcia, mayors from various towns including Hermosa Mayor Jopet Inton and Limay Nelson David, and other local and national agencies.

The agreement covers various projects aimed at enhancing agriculture in the province, such as the Onion Cold Storage in Hermosa, Bataan, Limay 0 KM, Precision Farming, LIFT, and Kadiwa Grant. The Department of Agriculture recognized the dedication of Bataan’s leaders to the advancement of agriculture. Secretary Laurel assured the Department’s continued support for these projects in Bataan.

Furthermore, former Governor and now Congressman Albert Garcia and former Dinalupihan Mayor and now Congresswoman Gila Garcia pioneered precision farming and other modern farming methods during the tenure of former Secretary William Dar.

During the visit of Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel Jr. and other dignitaries to the province, the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement for the Limay Zero Kilometer Food Project and Limay Invests for Farmer’s Triumph or LIFT Project is currently underway. The program also includes the turnover of a ceremonial check under the Kadiwa program for the Kadiwa Store in the town of Limay and a turnover ceremony for the 20,000 bag capacity Onion Cold Storage in the town of Hermosa.

Also part of the program is the sharing of the successful implementation of precision farming for the production of high-value crops at the 1Bataan Farms led by Cong. Gila Garcia. This project focuses on the diversity of crops, including the conventional planting of rice during the rainy season and the planting of high-value crops during the summer. Under the leadership of Bataan’s officials, the agricultural sector is expected to thrive, resulting in a more prosperous and progressive life for the farmers and residents of Bataan.
